Newdegate Blue Tree Project

On Friday 23rd July, the community got together to paint our own Blue Tree. This year’s Newdegate Machinery Field Days we are talking about Mental Health. Where we aim to raise awareness of mental wellbeing and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health.

The Blue Tree foundation mission is to help spark difficult conversations and encourage people to speak up when battling mental health concerns.

By spreading the paint and spreading the message that "it’s OK to not be OK", together we can help break down the stigma that’s still largely attached to mental health.

A big thanks to Bunnings & Taubmans for providing all the required supplies for the project, LeJano Bremer Bay & Museum Café Bremer Bay for the prizes.

Through the raffle & sausage sizzle we raised a whopping $2145 towards the Blue Tree Foundation! A huge thank you to the community for supporting the cause and the kids at the Newdegate Primary School for sharing what the tree means to them. The kids did an awesome job starting the painting of the tree with the adults completing the painting right up to the very top!

Our aim this year is to bring attention to Rural Mental Health and talk about our options when you may find yourself seeking help.

At this year’s Field Day on 1st & 2nd of September. The Minster of Mental Health, Hon Stephan Dawson will be opening the event and former Australian Cricketer and Lifeline Ambassador, Brad Hogg will be coming along to talk about his own personal struggles at the Sundowner at CBH shed on the Wednesday. Brad Hogg will also be fundraising for Lifeline where you could face Hoggy in the nets!

We will be having local Mental Health services, Holyoak from Narrogin, Rural Men’s Pit stop and Lifeline will be in the CBH tent.

Together as a community we can reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and say it’s okay, not to be okay’

Take care and we look forward to seeing everyone at this years Newdegate Machinery Field Days!
